September 25, 2022. Our first day at Mount. Cardigan.
For our special 7th grade Geography field trip, we went to M.T.Cardigan, and I really had a memorable first day. For the ride there, my mom was so kind to drive me there herself. The ride was about an hour and fifteen minutes, and the rode was really fun, if not a little scary. There were lots of hills, winding turns, and neat views the whole way there. After the long ride, we finally arrived. After we got the welcoming tutorial, we all split into groups to each work on a different hike or course.
The group I was in went on something called a compass course, where we would have to go from point to point using instructions given to us and then sketch the different plant life we saw. It was like a huge fun scavenger hunt. Later that day, we had free time and dinner, and the amc lodge people put on a funny play, but even all that didn't stop my bunk from having a fun evening. We were all laughing, smiling, and sometimes yelling at the boys above us when they were stomping their feet just to be annoying. It was fun right up until our curfew, witch was 10:00. By then, everything just went dead silent. Over all, the first day of Cardigan was a huge success. We all had fun, and enjoyed ourselves, as well as learning at least a few neat facts along the way.
On day one, we were going from place to place, going in between different locations through a course. We saw all the different regions. We saw stone walls that have been there for a very long time. Those walls used to mark different peoples homes, farms and regions. The area inside the stone walls were each different. Lots of clearings were circled by stone walls, which makes me assume that they used to be fields or pastures for animals and crops. We also saw different ski areas, marked by signs, posts, and very trampled trails. We also saw regions of different types of trees. We saw areas of beach trees, hemlocks, and spruce
